Dauin coast has made a name for itself as one of the premier muck diving destinations in Asia. A week after booking an offers was posted on the website, we asked about if we were eligible for the offer but wernt as we booked outside of promotion time, a good will gesture of wine and T-shirt was given though. If you are wanting to go out of season possibly wait closer the time to book so you can take advantage of the offers they may do.
The resort is 500m down a dirt track off the main road, you can get a tricycle from the resort to Robinsons mall for 350pesos or you can go to the main road and get a public tricycle for 20peso per person, we also bargained a private tricyle from the main road.
Resort has 2 pools which we didn’t use, looks like 1 for dive training and another recreational pool.
Grounds are kept clean and well manicured.
24 hour security to the resort.

Diving – Dauin is renowned for muck diving so dont expect many coral dives. The muck dives have plenty to see with a good variety on each dive, including a few wreck vehicles.. the house reef was a nice coral drift dive with plenty to see to.
My guide, Jun, was fantastic, very good at seeing tiny critters, tried hard to find what I wanted to see, very helpfull setting up equipment, friendly and funny to. He has been diving a while but still has the diving passion and still enjoys every dive!
The equipment used is still in OK condition, I only used the reg and BCD but had no problems with them.
Most dives are close by so transport is usually in a jeepny, the odd close dive like san migel or mainit are in a small transport boat.
The Apo island dive there was problems with the boat they hired, battery problems ment we were waiting about 40mins before we set off to Apo and was also an hour late comming back as the battery discharged again on the last dive, hopefully they use a different boat in the future or make sure all boats carry a spare in future.

Lodges – If you want a lodge with a sea view you need to choose 1,7,8 or 15. We were stayed in number 11 and i wouldnt reccomended this one. It backs onto the restaurant/bar so think it might be noisy during high season also your privacy is non existent here, the walk ways to the bar and restaurant split off here so a lot of human traffic passes you.
Room was clean, shower hot and bed was comfy.
A mini bar, laundry service, hair dryer and shampoo are all available in the rooms. A small TV also provided if you want a relaxing evening after a busy dive day.
I do like a safe in rooms but unfortunately there are none in rooms here.

Food/drinks – Food is very good here. The food was well prepared, tasty and a decent portion size. There is a good variety on offer with a very good selection that caters for vegetarians. Drinks also have a good selection from smoothies to flavoured beers and also the popular happy hour 2for1 cocktails that run from 16:30-18:30.

We stayed for 8 days and can give you a rough gide of price for your budget.
    AC Room- 32000peso or $600
BCD and regulator hire, 9 dives at dauin, an apo day dive all with nitrox, your sanctuary charges and your underwater camera charges – 26500peso or $500
All our food and drinks 14000peso or $270
As you can see its great value!!
All staff were friendly enough but a special tanks(excuse the pun) goes to Jun, Rhanda and Adrian who excelled in customer engagement and made the whole experience a lot more fun!!
Overall liquid is a very nice place for you to use for your stay in Dauin!

I was there for four days doing some really cool muck diving. I didn’t get to go to Apo, but the muck diving was more than enough for me. There was barely a dive where I didn’t see frogfishes and seahorses. Knowledgeable guides with eagle eyes! A must go place if you want to dive in the Philippines! read less

We had no plans and went to a couple of different dive reaorts enquiring about courses and accommodation. When arriving at Liquid the staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful and when we started talking about courses Jim came out from the office and spoke to us. He made us feel super comfortable and we knew this is where we would do our OW. He organised a driver to pick us up from where we were staying the next morning. The next day we met our instructor Aronne. An absolutely amazing instructor confident, professional and passionate. She was very thorough, clearly explained the topics and procedures and ensured to answer all questions and queries and we felt safe and comfortable at all times. All other staff and guides are extremely friendly and helpful. Sitting around the bar in the evenings feels like your with family, we made some great friends while at Liquid and highly recommend anyone who gets the chance to stay and dive with Liquid. The diving along the Dauin coast is absolutely amazing and we will be making a return trip.

I was warmly welcome by the staff, after a nice introduction of the resort, went to my room with sea view and I already felt relaxed.
Jim, Manager on site kindly help me scheduling my next dives, and I did a total of 10, all great dives.
Dive guides were very professional while giving their briefing, handling equipment (which is in good condition) and the dives were amazing !
There is everything you wanna see in Dauin if you are into small critters and they bring you on day trip to Apo Island to check out turtles, sea snakes and pristine corals !

Food was good and staffs very friendly.

I’ll definitely come back there on my next diving trip in the Philippines.

    Cheers

We planned out our stay about seven months in advance after a ton of research and reading reviews on visitors' overall experience… Take these reviews with a grain of salt because honestly, Liquid Dumaguete is totally underrated. This place is spectacular, way better than the reviews describe and photos depict. Especially for the price! As backpackers in our 20s, we didn’t have much cash to spare, yet for about $40 USD/night, this beautiful resort placed us in a king sized cottage with private bathroom, effective ceiling fan, running hot/cold water shower, soap and shampoo provided, soft towels, daily housekeeping, large front porch, and best of all: we were directly facing a gorgeous private beach with a full ocean view. We couldn’t believe it. And that was just our room. This place is tucked away on the coast of Dauin, making it accesible from the Airport and Dumaguete City, yet also very quiet and safe with a 24/7 security officer and cameras. Upon arriving by tricycle (although they will arrange a van for you if you prefer), we were greeted by the friendly staff with two complementary, deliciously cold welcome drinks. VERY nice touch. There are two large, clean swimming pools surrounded by lounging chairs and plush green grass in the middle of the resort. Steps away you’ll find an open-air tiki bar/restaurant… My partner and I spent three days at Liquid Dumaguete in September, completing our open water scuba certification. There are two large, clean swimming pools surrounded by lounging chairs and plush green grass in the middle of the resort. Steps away you’ll find an open-air tiki bar/restaurant with a huge menu, reasonable prices, great hours and friendly staff. An early morning upper-level breakfast bar opens at 6:30am which I loved visiting for a cup of coffee while watching the vibrant Philippine sunrise.

Additionally, the resort offers laundry service, massages at the on-site spa, secure gear-storage room, gear rinse station, outdoor showers, air-conditioned classrooms for certification courses and beachfront lounging chairs.

Each day we took the required steps for completing our scuba certification and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Our instructor, Sandra, was phenomenal. She was incredibly flexible with fitting in our whole course in three days, and truly gave us her all. There wasn’t a question she couldn’t answer nor a skill she could not perfectly demonstrate. Our instructor in training, Josh, was so helpful and such a pleasure to have around. On our four open water dives, we went to a variety of sites near the resort to see flourishing coral reefs and colorful schools of fish. Even 5 steps into the water in front of the resort was filled with beautiful coral reef ecosystems. What more could you ask for.

Suggestions to future visitors: First, come here if you plan on diving/swimming/snorkeling. If you don’t plan on those things, I’m not sure what you’ll be doing all day. And bring your own wetsuits if you can. Second, airfare to the Philippines in September is ridiculously inexpensive as it is their off-season. In fact, Typhoon Mangkhut hit while we were there, which made the water very murky for a few days and really interfered with our diving. If this is the only time you can afford to go, definitely still do, just keep that in mind. If you can afford to go in the non-rainy season you will probably have an even better time. Also they don’t tell you this but you CAN’T spearfish (or fish at all) in the water in front of the resort.

Suggestions to Liquid: We were under the impression that we were going to be going to Apo Island as part of our dive course, based on research we did. We were really disappointed when that wasn’t the case. We ended up going on our own later in our trip and it was phenomenal. You should definitely take all your dive guests there!! More
