Why every diver should aspire to become a Divemaster
Becoming a Divemaster is a dream of many scuba divers. It does sound pretty cool: being a master in diving! But what does a Divemaster
Scuba diving in the Philippines is amazing. Explore it from our PADI 5* CDC Dive Resort!
Liquid Dive Resort is a small boutique resort located on a secluded beach front in Dauin, home to some of the best diving in the Philippines. Established in 2011, Liquid Resort has evolved over the years. We have continuously expanded and improved our facilities, yet the one thing that remains constant is our staff. The heart and soul of Liquid. Our local team will welcome you with Filipino hospitality. You will arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.
The ocean has been our passion since the day we opened our doors. Our PADI 5* CDC dive center has won numerous PADI and PADI AWARE awards and has been a Green Fins member since 2019. Our in-house Institute for Marine Research (IMR), works closely with the local government and our local community to protect our corner of the Coral Triangle. Together we strive to be leaders in sustainable diving and resort practices in the Philippines.
Located only 20 minutes from Dumaguete city, Liquid is well equipped to cater for experienced divers, couples looking for a quiet retreat and families wanting a relaxing beach holiday. Whether you desire to take a course at our PADI 5* CDC dive center, read a book by one of our swimming pools, join a fitness class at our spacious gym, watch the sun rise on the beach front, utilize our co-work space, play a game of billiards, hike to waterfalls or indulge in a relaxing massage you will find the perfect place here at Liquid.
The Philippines lies in the Coral Triangle which is home to over 600 different reef-building coral species, creating one of the most diverse ocean environments on the planet.
Dauin coast has made a name for itself as one of the premier muck diving destinations in Asia. With over 30 different dive sites offering a wide array of critters, this area offers a little bit of everything for all levels of divers, whether you are beginner or professional photographer you will find be amazed by the diversity of the Dauin coast.
Liquid's house reef 'Mainit', is the best drift dive in Dauin, where you can encounter schools of barracuda, turtles, blue spotted rays, morays, healthy coral outcrops and schools of tropical fish. One of its most unique features is the natural hot spring that can be found towards the end of your dive. This unique experience is must dive for all our guests.
Only a short boat ride from Liquid is Apo Island, famous for being one of the first official Marina Protected Areas (MPA) in the country. Apo offers stunning coral reefs, abundant marine life, great walls and turtles on most dives. We recommend you join us on a 3 dive day trip, at least once during your stay
Liquid is an eco-friendly resort with ongoing environmental initiatives, we strive to be environmentally conscious both above and below the waves. For many years we have been a plastic free resort, we conduct dive site and beach clean-ups on a regular basis and our retail outlet only sells locally sourced and produced products.

Everything you need from a dive resort, good food, service and fantastic guides. We had heard how good the muck diving was from friends and we were not disappointed. So many little critters everywhere it was a macro photographers wet dream. If you are looking to tick some rare critters off of your bucket list then dive here and especially at Liquid. The rooms are spacious, clean and facing the sea which is so beautiful at sunrise. I did quite a number of dives and was impressed by the skill of the local dive guides and the friendliness of the boat crew. My guides were amazing at spotting the rare critters that I came hoping to see!
My favourite thing about Liquid though was the overall vibe created by the staff and the excellent and genuinely friendly service they provide.
This was the highlight of my trip to the Philippines and I definitely recommend a stay here if you can! read less

Add in two amazing dive trips to Sumilion and Apo Islands which were spectacular.
Great value and great service.
Only issue was with our shower not working but this in no way tempered our view of Liquid. read less

I contacted the resort a few months before arrival, enquiring about the TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses offered and Jim, the resort manager took the time to reply promptly and fully with answers to all of my questions. This might not sound like much but things like this matter a whole lot when thinking about making a move into tech diving as you need to understand what you’re getting yourself into. Not many dive centres I’ve contacted in the past have bothered to send much beyond a half assed reply so this was a big thumbs up immediately. Jim was also my instructor for the courses (this wasn’t a surprise – I’d looked him up beforehand) and I couldn't have been happier with him. Throughout the course, he was extremely approachable, knowledgeable and patient throughout my time there and he never hesitated to go above and beyond expectations. You leave with a clear impression that he is passionate about what he teaches and is keen to stay on top of the latest best practice and changes in the tech diving industry. This means that whilst he makes his feelings clear about not jumping on bandwagons, he will still adopt change where it makes sense to from the point of view of safety and practicality – an attitude that he… I came to know of Liquid whilst doing research into dive centres that offer TDI certifications in the Philippines. Jim always advocates the principle of Knowledgeable Thinking Diver throughout the course and you can see that this isn’t just a mindless mantra he says to tick a TDI box somewhere. He is passionate about making better divers and the concept of Knowledgeable Thinking Diver is key to that.
So Jim aside, my experience of the rest of the staff at the resort was that they are attentive, helpful, kind and welcoming.
For example, I brought a full set of my own recreational diving gear with me. After my first dive with doubles and a AL80 deco cylinder however, I quickly realised that my fins were far too positively buoyant for the extra weight of gear. Jim kindly spoke to Tom, another Liquid member of staff and he immediately offered to lend me his personal set of jet fins for the rest of the course. Without this kind offer, I would have had to likely go and buy a new set of fins at the local dive shop (which is very expensive!).
The rest of the resort is kept at a very high standard at all times and is quite frankly beautiful. So much so that after six days at Mikes Dauin Resort (a good place to stay in and of itself!), I decided to move to Liquid. A look through some of the pictures that others have taken of the sea view from the rooms at Liquid should explain why!
The accommodation is quiet, clean and idyllic. Going to sleep and waking up to the sound of nothing but the waves made for great starts and ends to each day and the compressor room is on the complete opposite side of the resort so there’s absolutely no noise from there either.
I could go on but it’d ultimately it’d just be more of the same – me just going on about how great my experience was. I’ll sign off by saying thanks to Jim, Michelle and Tom; I’ll be sure to return next year to get a few more tech fun dives under my belt! More read less

Safety is given importance and equipment is in good working condition. The resort has a very laid back vibe with friendly staff.
Was surprised that the resort offers very good quality meal although the wait can be a little long during peak hours (no rush since we are on holiday). For 3 days, we only had one meal outside. Eventually we found out that main chef, Carlos has a good understanding of different palate given his previous experience at a global platform.
Price is fair for what we have paid for. We had a basic room, bed is comfortable. Cleanliness is acceptable. Faucet strength / water strength at the shower is a bit soft. Beachfront is mostly pebbles but we have unblock view of sunrise, moonrise during full moon. Very lovely patch of well maintained garden and swimming pool.
Would return for the quality dive experience, genuine hospitality and good quality food. read less

We planned out our stay about seven months in advance after a ton of research and reading reviews on visitors' overall experience… Take these reviews with a grain of salt because honestly, Liquid Dumaguete is totally underrated. This place is spectacular, way better than the reviews describe and photos depict. Especially for the price! As backpackers in our 20s, we didn’t have much cash to spare, yet for about $40 USD/night, this beautiful resort placed us in a king sized cottage with private bathroom, effective ceiling fan, running hot/cold water shower, soap and shampoo provided, soft towels, daily housekeeping, large front porch, and best of all: we were directly facing a gorgeous private beach with a full ocean view. We couldn’t believe it. And that was just our room. This place is tucked away on the coast of Dauin, making it accesible from the Airport and Dumaguete City, yet also very quiet and safe with a 24/7 security officer and cameras. Upon arriving by tricycle (although they will arrange a van for you if you prefer), we were greeted by the friendly staff with two complementary, deliciously cold welcome drinks. VERY nice touch. There are two large, clean swimming pools surrounded by lounging chairs and plush green grass in the middle of the resort. There are two large, clean swimming pools surrounded by lounging chairs and plush green grass in the middle of the resort. Steps away you’ll find an open-air tiki bar/restaurant with a huge menu, reasonable prices, great hours and friendly staff. An early morning upper-level breakfast bar opens at 6:30am which I loved visiting for a cup of coffee while watching the vibrant Philippine sunrise.
Additionally, the resort offers laundry service, massages at the on-site spa, secure gear-storage room, gear rinse station, outdoor showers, air-conditioned classrooms for certification courses and beachfront lounging chairs.
Each day we took the required steps for completing our scuba certification and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Our instructor, Sandra, was phenomenal. She was incredibly flexible with fitting in our whole course in three days, and truly gave us her all. There wasn’t a question she couldn’t answer nor a skill she could not perfectly demonstrate. Our instructor in training, Josh, was so helpful and such a pleasure to have around. On our four open water dives, we went to a variety of sites near the resort to see flourishing coral reefs and colorful schools of fish. Even 5 steps into the water in front of the resort was filled with beautiful coral reef ecosystems. What more could you ask for.
Suggestions to future visitors: First, come here if you plan on diving/swimming/snorkeling. If you don’t plan on those things, I’m not sure what you’ll be doing all day. And bring your own wetsuits if you can. Second, airfare to the Philippines in September is ridiculously inexpensive as it is their off-season. In fact, Typhoon Mangkhut hit while we were there, which made the water very murky for a few days and really interfered with our diving. If this is the only time you can afford to go, definitely still do, just keep that in mind. If you can afford to go in the non-rainy season you will probably have an even better time. Also they don’t tell you this but you CAN’T spearfish (or fish at all) in the water in front of the resort.
Suggestions to Liquid: We were under the impression that we were going to be going to Apo Island as part of our dive course, based on research we did. We were really disappointed when that wasn’t the case. We ended up going on our own later in our trip and it was phenomenal. You should definitely take all your dive guests there!! More read less

Do you have a scuba bucket list? If yes, the Philippines is probably already on it (if not, it should be!). But have you already
I feel this needs to be bunched together as not all fins require boots. Open heel vs closed heel fins Personally I prefer to have
